Adult Summer Reading Program

Why should the kids have all the fun?

For the next four weeks, whenever you borrow an item from the library (book, magazine, movie, or CD), you can write a short review and be entered in our weekly drawing!

The more reviews you write, the better your chances to win -- so come in, grab a pile of great titles, and enjoy your summer! Entry forms are available at each library branch.

Ahoy Mates! Melinda Long visits the Abbeville Library

There were lots of pirates, but not a landlubber in sight when popular children's author Melinda Long visited the Abbeville Library last week. Over 60 children and adults squeezed into the children's area to hear Ms. Long talk about her writing and listen to two of her books, How I Became a Pirate and Pirates Don't Change Diapers.
Special thanks to the Library Services and Technology Act Grant that made her visit possible!

30 hours and counting

It takes 30 hours curled up with a good book to complete this year's Summer Reading Program. Earlier today, we had our first participant reach that goal at the Abbeville Library. Along the way, he read some great titles and earned several prizes (including a magnifying glass and a coupon for a free ice cream cone). Here he is wearing the reading medal he earned for completing the program.

Way to go! Keep reading!
